They will know they are Christians by their love and loathing?

OK, I find this article a bit annoying…I heard a lecture from this author last summer and from what she said, she’s in seminary something it seems like she conviently left this information out of her CT bio — why is that, is she enjoying the benefits of the warm loving fellowship of evangelicals, knowing if she admitted that she was in seminary, would she find herself rejected and left without an audience, a community and friends? Ah yes, perhaps I am just bitter — I was not as quiet about my views, well, for the past 20 years, so I feel the chilly wind blowing from formerly open doors.

So, is this what is means to be in the beloved community? They will know we are Christians as long we as uphold the correct political positions on marriage and sexuality — or at least, don’t openly advocate any other political position than that which upholds a conservative view of marriage EVEN IF you are gaining the benefits of a feminist lifestyle i.e. using your maiden name, attending a liberal seminary and considering ordination in a liberal church.

I am theologically an evangelical however, politically, I refuse to be part of a lynching mob. Too much of my childhood was spend listening to white who believed that blacks were created to serve whites, or were not created equal to whites, or about beliefs blacks marrying whites is immoral. So, is this what it means to overcome — I can now too don a white outfit, proclaiming only kind of marriage or another white outfit to lynch people (gays and lesbians, pro-choice advocates and those who don’t agree with a certain kind of marriage?) — will they start making wedding gowns where you can get married and show who you loathe?
