Biden? Ok, it was a strategic move…

10:15 p.m. — As I wait to hear Biden’s speech, I am hoping that I will hear something tonight that will make me feel like I can get behind Obama’s decision for VP. I am among the many women who were still hoping for Hillary (I can let it go if she becomes secretary of state or something to do with health care.)

I did not like Clinton’s campaign, but now that bygones are bygones, why are they bringing out Biden? OK, its a move that will win over Pennsylvania and he’s also neutral enough to be a good VP, but what else? I’m just waiting for the next stupid thing he has to say.

OK, I’m being cynical, but some of that has to do with knowing that I will vote for Obama and possibly for all democratic candidates because something has to change, things are not well.

One speech I liked was from a person who serves on an intelligence committee. A lot of his speech made me feel like I was in a fundamentalist church, but the one thing he said was, things are real bad, and this administration has not made things better, possibly worst (paraphrase). I think reassurance that things are bad and it’s not just our imagination is important. Or perhaps tonight the speeches are geared towards the party faithful who are cynical at heart. Cynicism is an absence of hope. I feel that one gift of this year’s democratic race is that hope and cynicism co-existed on the same plane of reality…

And in the distance, we see the platform…

It’s the “yawn” democratic national convention
