Farrah Fawcett, actress, 62.
Today’s stories of the deaths of pop-culture icons Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson may ultimately reflect poorly on the field of plastic surgery.
When these people were young and becoming pop icons, I never thought that they would try to prolong their youth-based fame. Then again, the technology has only recently become available.
I didn’t know that Farrah was an angel for only one season. I remember how people complained about her absence from the show longer than she was part of the show. It was the era of the super model’s second career on second rate television shows. I have to say, that the shock from these two deaths is not so much that they are gone, but that I’m still here and I’m possbly going to attend an upcoming rock concert with musicians who areĀ grandparents and members of AARP. The bic lighters might start exploding oxgen tanks. What do young people do to enjoy music, watch youtube I suppose.
Yeah, my generation likes to take a break from work andĀ go to concerts. The next generation’s options for recapturing will still be sitting in front of screens watching younger versions of aging artists. As holograms.
I am getting old. But that is no longer a negative. And it sure beats the alternative.
